Weight Watchers Weigh In and Weekly Update

Another week, another weigh in and I wish I had some exciting news to share with you but I don’t. Today’s weigh in results were a big fat goose egg. Yep, I had no recorded change between this week and last and I am ok with that. Some weeks I am going to lose, some weeks gain and some weeks I will just stay the same, that’s just life. Of course, I would be happy to have lost something this week but given the circumstances (my monthly visitor) I am happy that I didn’t register a gain today. You may remember the post from last week about me working towards my first 7 Day Chip. Well, I have made it through those seven days successfully and am now on day 9 working towards the 30 Day Chip. Although I didn’t lose any weight this week I still deem it a success. I tracked and portioned my food daily and made sure I was making good, healthy food choices when possible. More than anything I needed to get my focus back onto what, when and how much I was eating; bringing myself back to making conscious eating decisions instead of mindless ones. As I frequently say, it is not always about the scale and I am happy for this non-scale victory.

Yesterday I went to back to back boxing classes and again came home with some war wounds. Plank elbow strikes again as well as what I like to call ‘the stigmata’. I am not sure why this has happened, Paul thinks it is from holding myself in a push-up position for an extended amount of time, but I have red marks on the middle of my palms. It’s really weird. It’s not like a scrape or rug burn; there is no breaking of the skin, just red marks on my palms. What’s even weirder about my ‘stigmata’ is that during those classes I was wearing hand wraps so there was plenty of padding on my hands/palms; I am quite perplexed as to how I got those marks. Oh well, I guess I am just lucky.

Although I got plenty of rest last night I am still exhausted from spending Sunday out in the heat all day long. With the heat index temperatures were in the high 90’s and that heat was really draining. I was talking with Paul on the drive up to Austin wondering whether or not 33 year-old Dacia could survive an all day long festival. Although I wasn’t sure if I could last out in the Texas sun all day, both Paul and I agreed that for certain Dacia from seven months ago would not have been able to make it. If I had gone to ACL last year I probably would have spent a majority of the day sitting and complaining about how badly my feet hurt or how tired and hungry I was. This year I was able to stand and dance and wander around the 46 acre park pretty easily. Yes, I was exhausted on the drive home but I felt great all day at the festival. It’s amazing how shedding some pounds (well, a lot of pounds really) has impacted my ability to do the things I love again. No longer will my weight have to play a key role in the decisions I make. Although I still have a long way to go to get myself to a healthy weight I now know that even at this weight I can function again like a regular human being and that is a fantastic feeling!

I had to update one of my weight loss goals/rewards because over the weekend I randomly ended up buying an iPad. An opportunity arose for us to buy an iPad for almost half the retail cost so we jumped at the chance. I of course couldn’t rationalize buying an iPad just because so Paul said that it could be one of my weight loss rewards. So I switched 20% weight loss goal reward from a weekend trip away to an iPad. Sorry, KG – I will have to make the trip to San Diego my 30% weight loss goal reward. I promise, I will get there sometime soon 🙂 I haven’t had much time to play around on the iPad but holy crap that thing is awesome. I can totally see it becoming my new addiction. The next vlog I record will be on the iPad so you will have to let me know if you notice a difference in the quality. I think if I knew weight loss would come with such great perks I would have started sooner 😉

One last thing before I go, I am looking for some new breakfast ideas. I want to switch it up from my normal yogurt and Kashi/granola and breakfast taco routine. I am looking for something easy, transportable, and packed with protein. Please leave any ideas or recommendations in the comments or you can always email, message, tweet, or whatever is easiest for you.

Thanks for reading!

Ouchies Dacia!! I bruise pretty easy, so I sympathize!! Have you tried Burt’s Bees Res-Q Ointment, it works pretty good on the bruises. Congrats on your 7-day chip, I didn’t get one this week, but I’m going to try again right away. I have no idea how you do two boxing classes or any two classes in a row, you’ve got crazy strong will power!!! Before the breakfast taco entered my life 🙂 I was crazy for the smoothy, my version: medium banana, cup milk, cup frozen blueberrys, cup or small container of vanilla yogurt (greek yogurt works great of course) and 3-4 ice cubes. Yesterday on twitter someone mentioned putting flax seeds on a pb&j, that sounds good too

Your body has changed immensely and how great is it that it is so dang obvious, not only in the way you look but in what you are able to do. The best part, the year isn’t even over yet, just imagine where we will be by Christmas, just imagine!!

They marks on my arms are more like rug burn; a bunch of scabs not a bruise. Will that ointment help? I should buy it anyhow because I am always covered in bruises. It’s a downside of being clumsy. Lol!

Good luck on your 7 day chip. I know you will get it! Did I ask you what your focus was, what you wanted to achieve in order to earn it?

Yeah, it’s pretty crazy how much life has changed in such a short amount of time. Knowing that as i progress I change for the better helps to keep me going!

I love this ointment, it seems to work on all scrapes and bumps. Saves you a little bit of healing time and I think they feel better quicker too
my 7daychip challange was/is to fill 1/2 my plate with fruits/veggies I prefer fresh to frozen too, but it certainly helps to buy enough of either so you can fill 1/2 your plate 🙂

😦 Its ok. I understand. The iPad is pretty cool. Matt has it with him almost all the time while at home. It does leave you feeling your iPhone, which previously had a large screen, seem so tiny.

Congrats on your 7 day chip. I hope your battle scars heal up soon. Those are no fun!

That is so true! I had my iPad on my lap, picked up my phone to cheek something and was like WOW that’s small! Lol! It’s so weird!

    My breakfast of late..

    1/2 cup egg beaters
2 slices Canadian bacon, coarsely chopped
1/2 to 3/4 cups veggies (onions, peppers, etc.)
    1 tsp oil
    1/2 ounce low fat cheese

    8 ounces skim milk

I saute the veggies and the Bacon in about 1 tsp of oil. About a minute or two before they are cooked to my liking, I add the egg beaters. Cook until done. Then I will add half an ounce of low fat cheese. 6 Weight Watcher points for the whole thing.

That sounds fantastic aside from the milk. I don’t drink milk 🙂 Thank you for the recipe. I will definitely check it out soon.

I just started eating oatmeal with fresh fruit for breakfast. It’s getting awfully cold here in Michigan (although I’m sure it’s nothing like that in Texas) so it’s nice to start my day with a warm breakfast. I get the instant Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal and it’s only 4 points plus per packet. Then depending on my mood and what I have available I cut up a banana or some strawberries or something and mix it in. Very satisfying!

All my life I was never a big oatmeal fan but now I like the Irish steel-cut oatmeal. That’s very yummy!
